Our family consist of my wife and me, and our three children aged 7, 5 and 1. We had a wonderful stay at Arwana. The location is fantastic! You are right on the beach, which is absolutely lovely. You can sit on the beach directly in front of the hotel, which is perfectly fine, but my tip is to walk about 600 metres further down the beach to the other side. When I went snorkelling there during high tide, I encountered sharks and a sea turtle. It was absolutely amazing! The hotel also has a lovely swimming pool. It is well maintained and cleaned every day. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. However, the bathroom in our room was not clean enough for a hotel in this price range. This really needs to be improved if the hotel wants to raise its overall rating again. The hotel clearly has some issues with humidity, and I have the impression that this is partly caused by the choice of materials used in the bathrooms, as well as insufficient ventilation. Management really needs to address this issue, because if it is left unresolved, I believe it could seriously affect the hotel in the long run. The staff clearly make an effort to provide good service to their guests. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The buffets are extensive and delicious, both at breakfast and during the evening BBQ buffet. All in all, this is a beautiful place to stay and Arwana is a lovely hotel. We really enjoyed our time there and would be happy to return.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at Arwana. The staff were very friendly and supportive. We also appreciated the restaurant who gave great support so we could avoid certain food ingredients (allergy). It would be nice with some more relaxing chairs in the shade both around the pool but also with a sea view (in front of the breakfast restaurant).

As a family with children aged 10 and 12, we absolutely loved this resort. The pool was invaluable to be able to have time for ourselves to relax as well as the children. Buffet was great and the manager was amazing. Our children loved watching the baby reef sharks swimming next to the jetty out the front of the resort. Would highly recommend to both couples, individuals or families as they offer something for everyone.

The hotel owner has very restrictive policies: no room service, no alcohol allowed (not even if you buy your own in a nearby store), no beach towels, no beach chairs, no food in between hours, no money exchange, no payment with card for extra activities/services, no table service at breakfast (you have to lay the table yourself), no hand towels, etc etc etc. It was an awful experience, the only possitive outcome of this stay was the big room and the views (we were on the beach), but even so, the sleep quality was BAD because the power generator makes a lot of noise. Mi best advide is to skip this property.

The property is one of the best property for Besar island in the price range. Pools are great facility if you have non swimmers with you. We had kids and they just loved it. Food was good for Non Vegetarians but being vegetarian, we faced trouble. Cook helped on day 1 with good friend rice on day 1 in complimentary breakfast but that was the only 1 item we got in vegetarian food, apart from juice and tea coffee. On second day we were served something which noone liked and we left only with juice and tea/coffee. Apart from that, we did not like the policy of charging extreme for water bottles. May be the case in that part of the world of using the bottles, I would recommend increasing room rent and giving water refills for free. That would stop ruining the amazing beaches of Perhentian Islands with plastic litters.

We had an enjoyable stay at the Arwana. Staff at the front desk were helpful and accommodating. The pool and restaurant area are well presented with lots of greenery and shaded areas. The local food was really tasty.

Arwana is a very overpriced and really outdated resort. When you pay close to 600 euro's for four night i expect alot more. On arrival we were told the restaurant was open till nine pm. We went there at a little past eight pm and were refused by the staff. Not because it was full but the chef was to busy. I counted only five tabels being seated. Wow! The breakfast buffet was also terrible. Flies everywhere on the food. Warm fruit , moldy cupcakes. Unbaked bread rolls. Only thing edible were the omelets. Even the coffee was terrible. The swimmingpool was green and very dirty. Everything looked really uninviting. The staff all looked unhappy and were working from early in the morning untill late at night. I know having no wifi is not the end of the world. But the fact there is only wifi in the lobby is not acceptable for these kind of prices. All and all it was a very dissapointing experience. Later we stayed in an other resort on the small island and that was fantastic an even cheaper.

La struttura in sé avrebbe un buon potenziale, ma la manutenzione è scarsa. Il personale è gentilissimo, per carità, ma molto, molto lento nel soddisfare le richieste (basiche, anche solo per avere la carta igienica) e spesso confusionario: avevamo prenotazione per un'escursione di snorkeling e se la sono persa; eravamo in attesa di altra escursione, abbiamo chiesto info, eravamo lì al punto di imbarco, ma si stavano comunque dimenticando di noi... Bisogna chiedere e richiedere, al costo di diventare pesanti. La camera era grande, ma umidissima. Il bagno andrebbe rifatto e non per i problemi con l'acqua, di cui ero consapevole e che sono stati tutto sommato risolti, ma proprio per migliorare estetica (e togliere magari il silicone ormai annerito attorno al lavandino, o il pavimento che è ruvido e per niente igienico). Abbiamo provato un paio di volte i servizi di ristorazione, ma non li consiglio: soprattutto il bbq serale, caro e tutto bruciato. Meglio andare al Bfirst lì di fianco. In 3 giorni e mezzo che abbiamo alloggiato nella struttura, la piscina è rimasta chiusa per pulizia per 2 giorni. La cosa non è trascurabile, perché ad agosto il mare davanti all'Arwana si ritira e non è balneabile. Al di là di tutti i difetti, che con un po' di adattamento sono anche superabili per soggiorni brevi, sconsiglio questo lato dell'isola proprio per il discorso del mare: altre spiagge sono decisamente più fruibili, e non è un dettaglio da poco, visto che ci si sposta solo in taxiboat

Die Bewertungen waren gemischt. Wir wollten nicht das Dreichfache für das Marriott ausgeben und haben es gewagt. Mit dem Schnellboot angekommen haben wir das Gepäck über den äußerst baufälligen und unansehnlichen Steg geschleppt. Das Personal stand lächelnd im Schatten und beobachtete die Szenerie. Das Zimmer an sich hat uns wenig gefallen. Modriger Geruch, äußerst schäbige Sanitäranlegen. Die Dusche ist kaum nutzbar, da auch regelmäßig kein Wasser verfügbar ist. Nach langem Bitten wurde uns dann ein anderes Zimmer versprochen, ein Upgrade wurde vom Supervisor abgelehnt. Am zweiten Tag, als es zu dem Zimmerwechsel kommenden sollte, war dieses jedoch schon wieder vergeben. Der Service ist, wie in anderen Kommentaren ersichtlich, äußerst schwach, hält sich nicht an das Rauchverbot und das Housekeeping verbringt gerne die Mittagspause auf den Gästezimmern. Das SPA ist eine Ruine und beim Frühstück war mehr als einmal kein Essen verfügbar, da es Probleme mit dem Boot gab. Das Resort hat knapp 30 Jahre hinter sich und wurde augenscheinlich nicht renoviert. Immerhin ist nebenan schon die Baustelle für den Nachfolger. Das diese Gebäude jedoch ordentlich abgetragen und entsorgt werden, ist unwahrscheinlich. Die Umgebung ist bereits vollkommen vermüllt. Wir können diese Unterkunft niemandem empfehlen. Alternativen gibt es vermutlich nur auf der anderen Insel. Aber ganz ehrlich, die Perhentian Inseln haben es hinter sich.

Ich war insgesamt leider nicht zufrieden mit meinem Aufenthalt. Die Mitarbeiter sprechen kaum Englisch, was die Kommunikation erschwert. Das Frühstück ist eher auf malaysische Gäste ausgerichtet und weniger für europäische Geschmäcker geeignet. Unser Zimmer mit Poolblick war groß, das Bett gemütlich und die Einrichtung schön. Allerdings fehlte ein Moskitonetz, wodurch viele Mücken im Zimmer waren. Das Badezimmer war sehr feucht, das Waschbecken rostig und die Toilette unkomfortabel. Unter dem Bett lagen noch Blumenblätter von vorherigen Gästen, was auf eine unzureichende Reinigung hindeutet. Beim Check-in wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass Alkohol und Rauchen im gesamten Resort verboten sind. Außerdem tragen viele Gäste im Pool Burkinis. Ich respektiere die Kultur und bin selbst Muslim, trotzdem empfand ich es als unpassend, dass bestimmte religiöse Regeln für alle Gäste verpflichtend sind. Für ein internationales Resort wäre mehr Offenheit wünschenswert.

Afslapning

Det første værelse vi havde var i et betonhjørne hvor vores udsigt var direkte ind i en betonvæg, ikke fedt. Vi fik et andet mod et beløb de sidste dage vi havde. Poolen er god med et indslag af lokale dyr, vi nød den om eftermiddagen. Stranden er god, et fint udvalg af fine restauranter, I finder selv den i synes er bedst. Vi gik igennem junglen til den anden, hvor vi så masser af små hajer. Vi prøvede også turen over højderyggen, hvor stranden vender mod den anden ø. Turen var drøj og vi tog en båd tilbage til hotellet. Personalet var venlige og var årsagen til vores gåture på øen. Hvis man spiser på hotellet er priserne lidt højere end langs stranden men ganske fin mad, igen dejligt personale. Vi tog en tur med båd og snorkel, husk sololien osse på ryggen og fik set en del fisk og ikke mindst 3 skildpadder. Dejligt sted at slappe. Wifi når ikke ud til alle værelser men man sidder fint i receptionen og har et godt signal. Vi fik det fedeste tordenvejr den sidste aften med masser af flotte lyn.

Hôtel plaisant mais avec plein de fausses notes; un dîner buffet cher pour une qualité des plats très médiocres (viandes et crevettes mal cuites, purée et pâtes en accompagnement 🙄), Un petit déjeuner jusqu’à 10h, mais il n’y a plus de pancakes dès 8h30, les plats ne sont pas tenus au chaud, et les clients qui vident les stocks en remplissant des sacs ne sont pas embêtés par le staff… Enfin, notre enfant a été aspiré par une buse de la piscine et a vécu une expérience traumatisante et marqué physiquement par une énorme ecchymose. Le staff n’a alors rien fait de plus que nous donner une crème et s’excuser.

Gut hat uns das Frühstück gefallen. Leider nur eine einzige Marmeladezu Auswahl. Die Anlage an sich ist schön. Neue Stühle im Rezeptions- und Restaurantbereich. Dieses Resort wäre ausbaufähig. Die Zimmer riechen leicht modrig, da sollte dringend etwas gemacht werden. Außerdem wird unweit der Anlage Klärwasser? (riecht nach verfaulten Eiern) ins Meer geleitet. Überhaupt dürften alle Anlagen die sich am Strand befinden das Müllproblem angehen. Da steckt Malaysia noch in den Kinderschuhen.....

El personal de recepción excelente, siempre dispuestos a ayudar y resolver cualquier problema. Cogimos una habitación con terraza en primera línea de playa. No estaba mal, aunque se nota un mantenimiento deficiente, especialmente en el cuarto de baño (óxido, goteras). La limpieza, muy justita. La piscina muy sucia con algas. Decidimos no bañarnos por precaución. Pero lo que no es de recibo es que el hotel tenga en la parte trasera un estanque de aguas residuales, aguas completamente sucias y malolientes (según algún local, son las aguas del propio hotel) que vierten a la playa justo delante de la habitación nuestra. El olor es a veces insoportable y desde luego la playa está contaminada por este vertido. No parece muy aconsejable bañarse allí. Podría ser un gran hotel si se resolvieran estos problemas pues el lugar es paradisiaco.

Het ligt op een prachtig eiland met geweldige plekken om te snorkelen. Het resort heeft een prima ontbijt, goed zwembad, fijne bedden. Minder goed, smerige badkamer, geen stoelen bij het zwembad.

Nous ne conseillons pas trop

À première vue l'hôtel est beau mais il s'agit d'un bloc de béton sans grande végétation et sans charme particulier. La plage est la moins jolie de l'ensemble des plages des deux îles et l'eau est peu profonde donc si la marée est basse en journée lors de votre séjour, vous ne pourrez pas vous baigner dans la mer , dommage... Pas de vente de boisson avec alcool, encore dommage... Petit déjeuner satisfaisant. Buffet du dîner, cher pour ce qui est proposé, préférez la carte. La bouteille d'eau est vendue 10 ringgits aux clients alors qu'elle est vendue 5 partout ailleurs sur l'île . Pour la propreté, nous avons garder nos tongs pour prendre la douche car même avec de la bonne volonté les matériaux de sol ( galets pour la douche et plastique à trous pour la salle de bain) ne permettent pas un nettoyage hygiénique correct. Nous avons trouvé un élastique à cheuveux dans la douche en arrivant donc le processus de nettoyage est sans doute à revoir .. Literie de bonne qualité, et électricité stable avec bonne climatisation. Pas de chaises pour l'extérieur des chambres, ni en bord de mer ( aucun transat mis à part quelques un à la piscine ) pas de cendriers pour les fumeurs donc des mégots qui traines ... Nous ne conseillons donc pas trop
