We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Torre Mar Galápagos and couldn’t recommend it more highly. The apartment-hotel was exactly as advertised—clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully set up for families. We stayed in a two-bedroom unit that provided plenty of space for us and our two teenage kids, making it easy to relax after busy days exploring the islands. Our room was on the top floor, which might be challenging for elderly guests or families with very young children, but it was perfectly fine for us and well worth it for the privacy and quiet. The highlights of our stay were the delicious breakfasts and, most of all, John’s exceptional hospitality. John went above and beyond—offering fantastic restaurant recommendations, helping us make reservations, and giving us invaluable advice on how to get around and make the most of our time in Puerto Ayora. His local knowledge truly elevated our experience. We felt well cared for from start to finish and would absolutely stay here again on a return trip to the Galápagos. Torre Mar is a gem!

From the time we checked in till we checked out, John was fantastic and always available for anything we needed or random questions we had. The homemade breakfast each morning was delicious and we stayed in one of the courtyard residences (highly recommended if available). Easy walking distance to the many attractions, restaurants and shops is a huge plus!

Great Property, Great Owner

Great location with easy walking distance to everything. AC was cold, showers were hot and breakfast was fantastic. The owner, John is absolutely amazing. He completely made our trip with his recommendations for food and tours. He absolutely went above and beyond and made us feel like family. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. We will absolutely look to stay here again on any return visit.

AVOID. BOOK ANYWHERE ELSE. Rooms are unexceptional, and comparable to other hotels you'll find in the area. What you will experience here that you will not experience in other hotels is the owner entering your room when you go out and going through/taking from your luggage. NEVER store luggage with owner. Check out is at 9:30am, owner will bang on your room door like the police by 9:27am. Other things are just a flat out lies, for example, food is listed as "locally sourced" but it's things like oreos and packaged snacks with a boxed juice. VEGETARIANS/VEGANS DO NOT TRUST. Owner is one of those small guys with a serious jekyll-hyde complex. He'll say anything to get your money and then it's a petty and really horrible person. We travelled all over the Galapagos and this was the ONLY place that we experienced such behavior. NOT WORTH RISKING A MAGICAL TRIP. You can totally find wonderful rooms without any such risk. Finally for those of us that care about how someone treats staff, this guy is really messed up to the hotel's cleaning ladies--abusively so. For this reason alone NOT RECOMMENDED. AVOID. But just having to deal with someone that's going to go through your luggage and enter your room when you're not there--totally unacceptable. DO NOT BOOK HERE. (You've been warned!)

We really enjoyed our stay at Torre Mar not only because the space is great but so is John, the owner. Air conditioning was fabulous, the shower was warm, the decor appealing, the bedrooms large, fabulous outdoor area with grill, and the kitchen has everything you need. John has such great energy and was very helpful in arranging things for us. We even got to enjoy his sourdough homemade bread. I’m very glad we picked Torre Mar for our 3 night Santa Cruz stay. I would definitely stay here again! Thank you John for your great hospitality and attention to detail.

We had an amazing stay at Torre Mar's Penthouse suite. It made our visit to the Galapagos even more special. The location is fantastic - we walked to all the sites, shopping and restaurants. The kitchen had everything we needed. The shower was great. The bathrobes were super comfy. We slept really well on the bed. And we enjoyed having our own little patio overlooking the bay. But the best part were the hosts - friendly and super fast communicators. I recommend having them arrange the transport for you. It made the trip from the airport a lot more relaxing and the driver helped us carry our heavy suitcases up the stairs. So worth it!
