  • The California Condor was a common sight along the Columbia River in Lewis and Clark's day. By the early 1980's, there were only twenty-two left on the face of the planet, all in California. Today, thanks to a massive effort to re-populate the species via in-captivity pairing, there are some two-hundred members. But their recovery is far from assured. The Oregon Zoo has undertaken its own recovery effort whose ultimate goal is the re-introduction of the species into the protected wilderness area around the Columbia River Gorge. In short, to bring them home. For now, they live out their days in a vast, outdoor aviary designed specifically to mimic their habitat in the wild. If you have never seen one up close before, I urge you to come take a look. They are larger than any flying bird you will ever see, unless you go to Peru. And though black and white practically from head to toe, their plumage shines and reflects the light like dark, polished metal. If that doesn't suit your fancy, I will tell you that, as with all big birds, if you wait around long enough, they will do something so awe-inspiring that it will take your breath away, and something so goofy that you will laugh out loud. We arrived at the motel to signs saying that it was closed and no customers were being accepted. We had to find another motel with I help from anyone.

The staff were great, however the website stated that there would be free continental breakfast. There was not. There also was not coffee. The staff stated it was because of COVID. Okay, so let’s not advertise it then... right? I specifically picked that hotel for the breakfast, and would not have otherwise...

Clean and tidy. It smelled vaguely of cigarettes and there was an ant problem that i only noticed after drinking half a soda and setting it on the nightstand. And there was shouting throughout the night. But hey, it was cheap.

Nice surprise at this property. Nothing fancy at all, but felt safe and secure. Excellent location to get to where I needed to go...The breakfast was very minimal. Bagels and muffins. Maybe some fruit would be a good addition. I really wanted to use the hot tub, as it seemed hot and the jets were strong. Unfortunately I didn't try it out as time didn't allow. Owner was very nice and friendly. My room was more than adequate...a nice sized dining area with fridge and micro and a flat screen, followed by the next area/room with queen bed and another flat screen. I was pretty impressed, especially with the price I paid. I was pleasantly surprised

Quick trip

Good location. My significant other and I went down a couple nights early for a school event for my children. There were plenty of good places to eat near there. Also some nice sights along the rivers to go see. Nice clean place to stay

The room was clean and comfortable. There’s a need for some upgrades, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that it was cozy. Their continental breakfast leaves something to be desired, however.

Property is old and it appears they are in the process of updating. My room had updated flooring and furnishings, but the bathroom was old. I had a King with jetted tub. It had a small living room type area with tv, fridge, microwave, and comfortable love seat. A larger tv was in with the bed. Both tv's had a great picture. Jetted tub had a regular faucet on it rather than a large flow faucet so it took 15 minutes to fill the tub, only to find that the jets did not work. The room also had a very funny smell that was quite strong. Overall I was disappointed and stayed only one of the two nights I had booked.

When do you open up?

Breakfast (as continental is) was not open at 7am as told. It was 15 minutes before door was open. Oh but wait coffee need to perk. I was just off to my day looking for a quick cup of coffee.

A suite at the Econolodge

Hi, My stay was okay, the neighbors were reasonably quiet, but it looked like it could improve with a little remodeling. I's a convenient location for me so it worked out okay. They seem to be keeping the rooms booked so I bet they're happy to have it busy.
