Not the best choice in Paramaribo

I chose this hotel because friends from Guyana had stayed here. Too many things were unpleasant for such a short stay, though the place is cute enough. The owner arranged a cab to meet me at the airport but her fee was $30 US rather than the $25 he quoted. Since the plane was late I happily paid her - she was there, but it was the same fee to return the next day. Once we arrived at the hotel, the service was callous to say the least. No smiles or welcomes. Only the rules about the two bottles of water provided and no breakfast as I was only staying one night and it was not worth their while to provide those for someone only paying for one night. I was very ill but here was no willingness to be helpful. There are no nearby restaurants or shopping, so I had to hire the same driver to take me to a supermarket and drugstore! All in all there are better places to stay.

Good basic accommodation

Was in Suriname on business for several weeks and was looking for a quiet apart- hotel with a full kitchen and a space to work and Rachel's met that requirement. Comfortable room and friendly staff.
