Orto Botanico di Pisa

Pisa is a town in Tuscany, province of Pisa, with about 85 379 inhabitants. It extends over an area of ??185 km ? and has a population density of 462 inhabitants / km ?. It borders Cascina, Collesalvetti (LI), Livorno (LI), San Giuliano Terme. Recent archaeological discoveries have revealed the existence of a large river port from Roman times in your basement. These findings were found more than 30 vessels of various designs, some of them still intact, and the merchandise they carried, many objects have been recovered. This is due to the conservation enabled by the sediment deposited over time by the River Arno. For 20 centuries the estuary found up to 4 km from the sea which made the Port of Wonders largest Roman port, only equaled in importance by the port of Ostia, near Rome; currently city lies 17 km from the coast . It is believed that the inclination of the famous leaning tower is due to the fact that there have existed sea or an estuary larger than the current one. The port is under the station of San Rossore. Tradition has it that the Port of Pisa was that S. Pedro arrived to preach the Gospel, and then followed to Rome.
