Koshinoyado Takashimaya is a very traditional Ryokan, in the best sense! It is located in an ancient building that is very well maintained.
The staff was very friendly and caring, service was impeccable. The food was delicious, diner and breakfast alike. We have stayed in ryokans before, in various regions in Japan. Our stay here was one of the most pleasant experiences overall.
Very much recommended!
The service at Koshinoyado Takashimaya was unbelievably perfect, consistently exceeding my every expectation.
The food was so exceptional that I must say it was better than most any other ryokan I've stayed at. The menu served, the quality of the ingredients and the careful, discerning preparation made each meal an event to look forward to.
Yes, this is an older ryokan, but its food and service stand as truly compelling reasons to stay here.
Beautiful traditional Japanese Inn. Long history behind the inn nicely updated. Incredibly kind and helpful staff. The service of the traditional dinner in our room was above and beyond. We didn’t always know why we were eating but we did try everything. The hot bathing tub and outdoor shower were lovely and private. Nice amenities for the room. For US travelers the futon mats could have been a little thicker and the pillows were definitely unusual for us but obviously traditional. Breakfast was again traditional Japanese and everything very fresh. Staff went out of their way to use translation service to help us with our scheduling of transportation. A bit out of the way from the bigger city
