Ok this is nothing against the hotel and I would like to single out the receptionist who was very helpful. So I booked through hotel.com and got a confirmation mail saying it had been confirmed. However when we got there the hotel hadn't had any free rooms since March. So I then had to drive to the event we was going that night and then drive back. So that ruined the weekend. I wasn't charged for the room but that's not the point the point is hotels.com is more concerned about how many bookings they have made rather than checking the validity of the booking. If you are going to a popular event and you think oh that was lucky there's a room free do yourself a favour and check with the hotel. Poor hotels.com poor
We booked the hotel well in advance for one night in relation to a concert we were going to in Leigh. Probably because of the concert the Price was 145 £ for one night which was too expensive for what we got. The room was big but the beds were old and uncomfortable and we could hear plenty of traffic from the motorway and roundabout. Breakfast buffet was okay.
we stayed at the hotel on the 14th dec in room 212, although the hotel was very busy with xmas parties etc, it didn't hinder our stay. it was a very reasonable price for the amenities they provided. the staff were extremely helpful and we even had our evening meal brought to our bedroom as there wasn't any room in the dining room due to the parties that were going on. I would recommend a stay here again if we were in the region.
They tried to overcharge me by £5 as soon as I arrived. Nobody showed me to my room. The room was very basic and the shower didn't even work.
I did not sleep well as the bed had a waterproof sheeting that mad a noise as soon as you moved and I imagine the floor would have been softer.
In addition the windows are single glazed meaning you can hear the traffic on the main road outside all night.
I did not opt for breakfast as it would have been £18 for the 2 with I found ridiculous.
In conclusion, I would not stay again, I would not recommend and I would discourage anyone from going there.
Booked online late afternoon on the 1st day of a business trip because my usual hotel was full. I was so impressed with the Sporting Lodge that I will now us tag there instead if my previous usual hotel. The service i received at check-in was swift.friendly & professional. Room rates were slightly higher than my usual hotel but far greater value for money as car parking was free, fast wi-fi was free & I enjoyed my early morning swim in the pool. My room was spacious, warm & ideal for doing some work in preparation for the following days meeting.
