Not what I booked!
This bungalow area has no amenities whatsoever. Although it is by the beach, there is just one deck chair. I booked this because the bungalow was supposed to be right by the seafront, according to the website pictures the room has a full sea view and terrace. On arrival we were given a dark and no view at all bungalow in the rear garden area. Had I known this I would have never booked here. There is no restaurant, no pool, no deckchairs, and the local area has not much to offer either. For the same price or less we could have stayed in a much better resort. I feel properly ripped off.
After speaking to some other guests, they were also promised the sea view bungalows and didn’t get them. There are only two of those seaside bungalows.
We were very satisfied with our stay in this resort located directly on the beach. The front beach bungalows are very authentic and well equipped, even if we used it just for the first 2 nights, because of the threath of the tropical storm on Jan.4 we were afraid of. Philippe, the owner of the resort, understood our fear and moved us before the storm to a nice apartment on the 2.floor of his further hotel Ocean 11 close to our bungalow to make us feel safer. Generally, Philippe supported us in all we needed and also thanks to him we consider our holiday in Bangrak as nice and interesting, in spite of the 3 days lasting strong wind and rain. It´s a pity that due to the bad weather we couldn ´t enjoy the nice Bangrak beach and discover the island enough, so as we planned.
The "bungalow" did not look like anything like the online pictures. Some additional issues:
-Noisy (thin walls, adjacent to speedboat pier that was blasting loud music)
-Cockroaches in bathroom (coming out of an exposed drain pipe)
-Fluorescent overhead lighting (switch poorly located, needed a flashlight to get to the bed)
-Service was lacking. For example, the host lined up activities without giving adequate information and/or not showing up when agreed. He was presumptuous and patronizing (e.g. instead of apologizing in a professional manner basically gave me a pat on the head, kept offering to give me suggestions for where I could go to "find a boyfriend" despite my expressing disinterest).
I checked out two days early on a non-refundable reservation if that gives any indication.
Not recommended, especially if you are a solo female traveler.
