Beautiful Maison

What a gem in Johannesburg. At the end of a quiet tree lined street is this oasis. Karen and her staff are kind and professional. The little touches (delicious biscotti, bath salts, etc) make Maison Jacarinda feel like your home away from home. Bonus are two sweet and lovely dogs who greet you when you come home. Highly recommended.

We stayed only for one night. First of all, this is NOT a true hotel, but think of it more like airBnB. The property is located in a beautiful part of JoBurg, very safe to walk in the daytime. It's a house that is now converted into some rooms that they have for rental, my guess is that there are about 3-4 rooms in total that they rent out. There is a caretaker on the premise at night, but it's not really to provide guest services in any way other than true emergencies. Good things: very charming, great price/value, great neighborhood, walkable to restaurants and close to Rosebank mall by Uber. Not so good things: it's not a hotel, so the rooms have the previous inhabitants clothing, toiletries as well. It's clean but you may find an odd strand of hair here and there, so if you are squeamish about those things..... Also check in was a bit strange, there are no instructions, you get there expecting a sign that announce it's a hotel; and you see nothing but the wall of the house with the name "maison jacaranda", then you ring the doorbell and hope that South Africans don't believe in stand your ground laws, I would definitely get there and "check in" early in the day as I wouldn't have figured it out at night. All in all, I really like the property and would stay there again as I am not squeamish and enjoy the charm.

Maison Jacaranda is a great place, really superb. Everything is perfectly set up, peaceful, quiet and luxurious. We enjoyed our stay there. It is worth everything and more financially. From the minute you come in, being welcomed, made you feel at home. How you are taken care of, everything is within your reach for all your requirements. It is surely beyond measure.

O lugar é lindo, o quarto maravilhoso e o atendimento excelente. Não tem recepção 24 horas, a entrada é feita com senha no portão. Reservamos com café da manhã incluído, mas o café da manhã é apenas iogurte e frutas na geladeira do quarto. Café, chá, mel e granola no armário do quarto. Na verdade, não tinha café da manhã, o que nos surpreendeu. O bairro é distante e totalmente residencial. Não é um bairro que se pode caminhar à noite. É escuro e não tem pessoas circulando. É necessário usar o Uber ou Bolt. O Bolt é excelente para circular para todos os lugares da cidade e os valores são a metade do preço do Uber, além de ser seguro e o aplicativo funcionar perfeitamente. Chegando e saindo com o Bolt não tivemos nenhum problema em estar nessa localização. Recomendamos com a ciência de que não tem realmente café da manhã e que para se locomover é necessário utilizar Bolt ou Uber.

Sehr nettes Zimmer, gemütlich eingerichtet, sehr gepflegter Garten mit Pool, Grillmöglichkeit und überdachter Veranda. Parkplätze direkt im Gebäude. Sichere Umgebung. Man kann sehr gut Abends zu Fuß zu Restaurants gehen. Ebenso ist es unweit zu einer Hopp On hopp off Haltestelle (Zoo Lake).

This is a fantastic lodge in a beautiful area. It's in a gated suburb very near Zoo Lake and the Johannesburg Zoo. The property is very beautiful, spacious, secure and well-maintained. Plus the owner, Karen, was incredibly helpful and responsive. I would absolutely stay there again

Ótimas instalações e boa localização

Na verdade é uma suíte em uma casa com entrada exclusiva (a dona mora lá também, o que é comum na África do Sul). O quarto é muito bem equipado e decorado, assim como o banheiro, que possui uma banheira e algumas amenidades para banho muito boas. A localização do bairro é ótima, com um centrinho comercial a uns seis quarteirões (supermercado, lojas diversas e restaurantes/cafés), além de ficar a três quadras de um parque onde passa o ônibus vermelho de turismo da cidade. Ah, e ganhamos um vinho branco na chegada... Atenção apenas para o "café colonial" (pra quem não sabe, é sinônimo de um café básico). No caso é uma bandeja com diversas frutas (muitas mesmo, algumas que nem conhecia) um iogurte bem denso (dá pra ver q é de alta qualidade) granola e mel a vontade (tudo a disposição no quarto mesmo), junto com pó de café, açúcar e os equipamentos pra fazer o seu café.

Incredibly comfortable stay

I stayed at the Orchid Room as I had a 1 day layover in Joburg. Host Karen was very welcoming and flexible to communicate with. The bedroom was incredibly comfortable, and it felt very homey with all the goodies (fresh fruits, coffee, yogurt and milk in the fridge etc) available. The bathroom was clean and also a great place to unwind with a walk-in shower and a tub. The zoo lake and shops and restaurants were all within walking distance. Will stay there again if I am ever in Joburg.

Super safe and everything is close

We loved our stay, there was gates and electric fences to protect the property along with two adorable dogs. Everything was close, such as the tourist attractions and shopping centres (pharmacy and supermarket). The hostess was super sweet and the room was well maintained. You have access to a patio and pool and are in a quiet peaceful neighborhood.
