I should of read it more. I was mistaken for just a small bedroom with room for a queen bed.diwn the hall was our own bathroom. The stairs were very step going up to the upstairs bedroom. Im glad i didnthave to carry much luggage up..they had a wooden balcony that over looked he lake but had other visitors on it as our window was there and we were kept awake all night.. warning no frig..i had brought food to be refrigerated.. they had a family room doen stairs under oir bedroom and game room which people were allowed to come in and they used all hours of tge night..i waa disappointed. I will probably not stay there again. I thought i was saving money threw hotel.com. but in fact i feel was over charged..i could have gotten a hotel room for only $20 more..i kniw better next time
It was very quiet, and very clean. I hope to return in the summertime when I can actually take advantage of some of the amenities. Mid-January isn't really a good time to visit northern Michigan, but family matters required a weekend up North.
It was a very warm and relaxing atmosphere for both my son and I. After just a couple of days it felt like a second home. Looking forward to returning in the fall. Manger was very courteous and helpful. The room was extremely clean and the smell of the sheets were wonderful!!
While we've been coming to Houghton Lake for years, this was our first visit to Sunset Resort. To say we loved it would be an understatement. We had a great time with our kids and our only wish was that we stayed longer. The cabin was spotless and the hosts couldn't be any more welcoming or helpful. We visited in the winter and had an amazing view of the frozen, snow covered lake. We can't wait to find a weekend to book another stay. We HIGHLY recommend Sunset Resort.
We enjoyed ourselves after coming from a craft show we participated in that was located inside a very hot school gym. We stayed in one of the cottage rooms where you have a gorgeous upper deck with tables facing the lake. There was also a family room and a porch downstairs. There were arcade games and a air hockey table that we used. Lots of board games and a TV by the fireplace.
My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay here. The price was good, the room comfortable, clean beach area with grills, etc. Very pleasant grounds. The owner showed around personally, made sure that our room was acceptable, gave us information on the area and was very helpful in general.
Look forward to staying there again.
On the spur of the moment we decided to take a motorcycle ride and stay overnight. I couldn't find much in the area and was thrilled to find a small lodge with a room. We arrived and found out I booked the wrong night. The owner was very accommodating and while the rooms were all booked, she had a small cabin that she bumped us to. She was so helpful. She gave us bedding and towels, since we were not prepared for a cabin. The cabin was very nice and clean. The property had a lovely beach area, boats to rent and several fire pits for fires. This was a great place to stay and we would recommend it to anyone in the area. Sunset was amazing.
The staff and down home atmosphere made this place a relaxing great get away weekend. Staff were very accommodating and I loved the upper deck that over looked the beach. The paddle boats were free to use which was nice and beach area well kept with nice seating and a fire pit. Few places offer free wood but this one did!
