Location is the reason to stay here: literally *between* the visitor center and the monastic ruins that are the reason to visit Glendronagh. Perhaps that enables the seemingly casual attitude toward getting details right, re cleaning, housekeeping, and even record keeping. This was the only dirty hotel we encountered in a month in Ireland.

The location is perfect for access to the Glendalough trails. The hotel itself is inherently nice, but fairly run down. The room didn't feel very clean (the carpet was in need of a deep clean, there was a slight smell etc.) but the bed had clean sheets and was comfortable at least. Overall it's worth staying here if you want access to the trails, just don't expect a luxury hotel experience. If the property invested in some refurb/deep cleaning it would go a long way.

This lovely hotel, with older charm and character, is perfectly located to walking and hiking trails, and a 2 minute stroll to the monastic ruins. Our room was comfortable, spacious and clean, as was the bathroom. The tub/shower was a bit of a high step, but grab bar was perfect help. Breakfast in the morning was buffet-style with good variety. I wish we had time to stay longer than just overnight.

The room was not very clean. The carpet was dirty around the edges of the room. The room also did not have AC which bypassed the Expedia filter I had placed while searching. We basically sweated through the night even with a fan they provided after being asked. Also the beds have no top sheet so sleeping in the hot air was rough! The staff was very friendly and parking was easy although could have used some explanation before arrival. Also, make sure that you use Glendalough hotel in order to make it to the correct destination. We went to the actual Glendalough Estate as this is advertised as which it is not.

We loved this classic hotel with old world charm. Situated on a creek and adjacent to a park, there were endless hiking trails to be explored. We loved stumbling upon the St Savior Church remains on our forest walk. Our room was spacious and the water pressure for showering outstanding— many other hotels we’ve visited could learn something from this hotel. Breakfast was the standard English Breakfast that we’ve tired of after nearly 3 weeks of travel. Please consider offering something a little interesting sometime— like a waffle, or crepe. Overall, we had a great time and would happily return.

A charming and old hotel on beautiful grounds and walkable to Glendalough Cathedral. Hotel needs serious updates and maintenance. Broken coffee machines, fire extinguishers hanging on by a thread to the wall. Staff (other than a bartender) were not impressive and food was meh. Staff is worked hard.
