The saloon was great with wonderful nightly entertainment especially the bluegrass entertainment on Sunday night. Also, our room was very comfortable and clean.
This is a lovely historic hotel in the ideal location in downtown Durango. The two taverns with live music had good food and drinks but we mostly enjoyed the music. The whole hotel has such an elegant decor. We loved our stay and would recommend this hotel.
Like stepping back in time, but with all the modern amenities and convenience. Love the history of the place. Pianist was a phenomenal entertainer. Great experience!!!
Beautiful historic hotel centrally located. We were situated in a smaller room (418)on 4th floor. Quiet location and charming narrow gauge just 7minute walk. Perfect getaway in a cool town in the west. Enjoy your travels !
Great coffee available in the morning. Walkable to many restaurants, shops, and the historical train station. Live music every night at 2 of the hotel restaurants.
enjoyed everything about this beautiful historic hotel. It feels like the property has become even more beautifully maintained than in past visits.
Always love the Office bar.
The staff was awesome specifically Lala! Devin Scott was the entertainment at "The Office" and do yourself a favor and catch him when he is there. This place was top notch and we will be back!
The Strater Hotel was such a magical stay! It was amazing to see all of the artifacts inside the lobby area! It was like a museum and a time capsule. We reserved the Jacuzzi and it was so clean and well maintained. It was so cozy and nice to have the whole room to ourselves for 30 minutes. Each room had its own unique attributes and I want to book the Strater over and over again so I can experience ALL they have to offer. We spent an evening at the spiritorium and were met with an independent artist playing his guitar and taking requests. It was such a great time!
Stay here if the 1887 brick-and-walnut atmosphere, helpful staff, and walk-to-everything downtown spot matter more than a plush bed, sparkling-clean modern room, or extras. If you want updated comfort and consistent cleanliness, look at newer properties nearby and treat the Strater as a place to tour and have a drink rather than your overnight base. The history and setting are genuine; the rooms have not kept pace.
Hotel was a awesome place to stay!
Liked that it was decorated in the Victorian area!
Loved your room was clean!
Exploded the hotel.
Will stay here again when passing thru!
