With an airport hotel there is an expectation that they will be functional but have no character this hotel is an exception. We were very pleasantly surprised to find how good this hotel was. The rooms were nice and spacious with some nice little touches. The restaurant and bar area were nice and lively, might have had something to do with it being St Patrick's day as they had a live singer/guitar player. We had lunch and dinner there which was excellent, although the continental breakfast did...

We absolutely loved our stay at The Observatory Hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful, full of character and history, and the location in the Arts Centre, right opposite the Botanic Gardens, is fantastic. We loved being able to walk everywhere and explore Christchurch from such a central yet peaceful location. Our room was beautifully decorated, comfortable and full of lovely little touches. The whole hotel has such a unique feel, it’s much more than just a hotel and feels like you’re staying...

Great hotel and a nice little walk into town

Hotel right at the airport - very convenient for early morning flights. Nice modern hotel. Just what you expect from a Novotel. Staff were really helpful.

We arrived at the hotel at about 10:15 to drop off our cases but we were able to check-in and were given our room keys - we had an amazing Junior Suite which was spotlessly clean, good selection of toiletries and tea/coffee - breakfast the next morning (payable as not included) was a very good selection of continental breakfast and full hot breakfast

Return visit after 35 years ! It has gone a bit more upmarket but overall had not changed much . Still very comfortable, clean and convenient for everything beautiful Christchurch has to offer. Loved George the bear who went on to travel all over New Zealand for 3 month with us . Hope to be back before the next 35 years !

very clean, lovely friendly helpful staff, excellent food at very good cost.

Clean, well located and a good coffee machine

.

What a lovely hotel. Very close to Christchurch Airport and walkable to departures. Lovely clean and smart hotel. Large and comfortable rooms. Lovely beds. Nice restaurant with good food. Not to mention the brilliant robot service!! Love that!! And finally a special thank you to Rinny who helped us in our hour of need sorting out the car rental return to Scotties as they had closed early, not told us and left us in the lurch. Rinny was so helpful. Thank you.

Large central modern hotel in great location

Very good

The Heritage is excellent in every way. Every room is a very comfortable, well appointed & well equipped suite, The staff could not be more helpful and friendly. A home away from home. The food in Madison, the restaurant is fantastic. Can't recommend highly enough.

Great location to explore. Bed was really comfortable and the breakfast options were good. Highly recommend the Italian opposite the hotel!

Lovely room, amazing shower and bed. Great staff, great coffee.

It was a nice stay

I had a standard double room that was more than adequate for a short stay in Christchurch. However, my main selling point for this hotel would be the fact that Tram Stop Number One is literally outside the front door. I last went to Christchurch 10 years ago, before the earthquake, and the current situation is still quite staggering. Even the taxi drivers complain about driving around town so the use of the tram to get about was very welcome. I stayed a few days at Hotel 115 before joining a...

Clean, staff were friendly and helpful and the room was just what we needed to stay in the city.

Great staff, super nice stay
