I took a chance and booked us a location that was off the touristy spot where all the big hotels were - so glad I did - VUE is a hidden gem. We took to walking around the Hutong neighborhoods right away, my father loved his morning walks in Houhai Park which was right behind the hotel. "While it is an old property and suffers from that (they cannot get the smoke smell out of some rooms especially those on the fifth floor of building 9, weak flush, some decor dated), the staff and service and the breakfast buffet were beyond outstanding and that made up for a lot!"
