Great stay in beautiful surroundings

Stylish hotel in a good location. The room we were given was nicely decorated very clean and comfortable with a huge bed and a nice walk in shower Reception staff were very friendly and they gave us good information regarding the various attractions around and about The grounds were spacious clean and attractive with a swimming pool which we sadly didn’t use as we only strayed one night . Easy safe parking was a bonus . Great breakfast with a choice of fresh fruits pastries meats and breads The decor in public areas was very modern and stylish Very close to the city walls with goood access to shopping and restaurants. Would recommend for sure

Nice but strangely quiet

You can see that the hotel was refurbished a few years ago and it’s a nice building in a good location but compared to the pictures online, it looks quite tired. The staff were all very pleasant. The swimming pool was lovely. The room was large and comfortable. We had breakfast, which was basic and probably not worth the €15. Generally the hotel felt like a ghost town. Aside from a few people by the pool and someone on reception, the bar was empty with nobody there to serve, the restaurant was closed apart from breakfast for the duration of our stay. We returned at 9.30pm from a meal out and everything was locked, no staff, no option to get a drink at the bar, just a number to call if there was an emergency. If you are happy doing your own thing then it’s a nice little place but it felt a bit deserted for us.

Tres beau cadre, calme, exclusif mais bien situe en pleine ville. Personnel courtois et equipements neufs et de qualite. On apprecierait que le petit dejeuner soit moins standardise avec une offre de plats chauds a base d’oeuf et de ne pas devoir utiliser un distributeur de boissons chaudes en libre service ! C’est dommage, car cela detonne avec tout le reste

This is a beautiful hotel, set in a tranquil garden, with a lovely view. The staff members were helpful and very friendly, and the room was enormous, interesting and comfortable. We enjoyed being able to walk into town, and around the ramparts of the city. It’s a pity we had just one night, we would have liked to have stayed longer. Very good breakfast

Un séjour plutôt mitigé

Un cadre et un accueil très agréable, l'absence d'ascenseur dans un 4 étoiles représente un bémol quand au confort. Nous avons eu surtout à déplorer un gros souci avec la partie lingerie des chambres, peignoir avec col entaché, de nombreuses serviettes que nous avons dû changer car sales, problèmes que nous avons signalé à notre départ, et connu par l'hôtel qui compte y remédier. Mais cela nous a impacté pendant notre séjour, d'autant que nous sommes restés trois nuits. L'hôtel mériterait un rafraîchissement à ce niveau de prix.

Hôtel très bien, personnel sympathique, petit déjeuner un peu simple mais bon et avec des produits frais. La piscine a été bien utile en ces temps de canicule, ainsi que la Clim dans la chambre. La localisation est très bien : au calme mais près du centre. Avec un parking disponible sur place qui est aussi un plus.

Lovely, mid-century style, renovated abbey in charming old centre area of Angouleme. While the hotel is a short 15-minute walk from the train station, we arrived late at night and were advised to advance book a taxi to ensure we had transportation to the hotel. Room was spacious, immaculate, bed comfortable, and well supplied with coffee, tea, and a minibar with wines, juices, and a few snacks. Staff were friendly and spoke perfect English, making it unnecessary for us to butcher the beautiful French language 😉. Our breakfast was delightful with local breads, cheeses, and a nice selection of meats, eggs, juices, and coffees/tea. We will gladly return during our next stop in Angouleme. We highly recommend the Hotel Le Saint Gelais as the best option for a stay hotel in Angouleme.

Une adresse qu'on a envie de garder pour soi !

Parfait ! Un endroit idyllique, des prestations de grandes qualités et parfaites, beaucoup de charme et de confort, ainsi qu'un personnel adorable. Un hôtel qui mérite ses étoiles ! J'ai été surclassée sans rien demander. Vraiment une belle adresse que j'ai adoré découvrir. Le centre est à 10 min à pied max, très facile et parking gratuit. J'ai hâte de revenir pour la période estivale. Seul bémol : des savons individuels (il serait top de mettre plutôt des gros flacons remplissables pour éviter les déchets) et un petit déjeuner à améliorer.
