Hotel full of character and great people

Friendly and welcoming staff even during covid! The hotel is run by a great couple who work hard to make you feel comfortable during your stay.

Fabulous little Gem

Booked this Gwesty with some reservations due to bad reviews. Arrived about 5 pm and first impressions were good as car park well lit and sign posted. We went through the big Oak front door and were met with beaming smiles and a big hello. Foyer was like going back in time so we knew it was our kind of place. Check in smooth and easy and information given about dinner and breakfast. Room 15 up the stairs was perfect. Spacious accommodation with sitting area and all mod cons. Room was exceptionally clean including the en-suite bathroom with bath and shower and toiletries. Wi-fi was easy with excellent signal and tv had digital channels so everything we needed was right there. Dinner, the food was excellent and we were looked after all evening with staff being attentive but not too close. Menu was a little limited with not much choice was our only minor issue. Slept well, beds comfortable and extra pillows in the wardrobe. Minor issue was there were no glasses for water which would have been useful. Breakfast was a delight, good service food cooked to order and as much tea / coffee / juice as you wanted. Cereals and fresh fruit and a toaster completed the buffet area. Minor issue was the cups were very small so used a lot more teabags. We would suggest larger cups or mugs be used to improve the experience and save the hotel money. Overall a great experience and we will visit again, perfect location to explore the Brecon Beacons........diolch yn fawr iawn

The resort was in a perfect location to visit Penderyn distillery. There was a young gentleman Adam who went out of his way to make sure we had a pleasant stay.

Good country house hotel. The rooms - especially mattresses- need upgrading and replacing. Grounds need tidying up.

Perfect location for beautiful hiking

The hotel and the staff were all amazing! Very friendly and brilliant location for what we wanted to do (which was hiking). The only thing that could be improved is the quality of the mattress - no the most comfortable nights sleep ever after a day of hiking but not awful either.

No hot water. Could only get a lukewarm dribble in the shower. Room not cleaned to a decent standard. Found old rubbish and possessions left by previous occupants. No sleep on first night due to fight and arguments down the corridor which went on for over 2 hours. Couldn’t find the night porter at all. Not a good place to stay.

The staff were lovely but the hotel was not clean, we stayed in room 2 and the hygine was not good. The housekeeper need to pay more attention to detail. The hotel is very tired looking. The gardens are a mess.

The Caradog Restaurant’s evening meal was sensationally good: fine-dining taste without fine-dining meagre portion sizes! Very attentive waitstaff and did not have to wait long at all between courses. Well-ventilated room despite keeping window shut. Will definitely come again.

Could not fault it - beautiful room with garden, impeccable service and nothing was too much to ask! Highly recommend and would return!!

Its a tired business, rooms are large but old furniture, (fitting for an old property to some ) the bed was comfortable but sounded like springs were on way out, the bathroom extractor fan looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years and was very very noisy, the gutters were leaking even after the rain stopped, i got the feel its an upgrade in progress, and needs to be attempted more speedily to attract more guests.

The restaurant was lovely with very friendly staff and our room was fine. The bed mattress was a little on the soft side for us.
