What you can expect

  • This immersive guided tour traces the timeline of Javanese civilisation on the densely populated island of Java. Starting with prehistoric roots and continuing to modern Indonesia, the tour reveals how architecture, symbolism, and craftsmanship mirror the evolution of society.

Led by a local cultural interpreter as your guide, the tour uses a sensory and storytelling approach, allowing travellers to feel history through textures, sounds, and spaces. Experience the identity of Yogyakarta and Java not as something frozen in time, but as a living dialogue between the past and the present.

Every weekend, the tour ends with a free bonus screening of an independent Indonesian short film inside the museum’s mini cinema.

A perfect way to see how art continues to narrate the nation’s storey.
