Depart from Húsavík harbour aboard VINUR and sail into Skjálfandi Bay, surrounded by the mountains and coastline of North Iceland. Head out onto the viewing decks as our experienced crew searches for whales and other marine life. Humpback and minke whales are among the species most commonly seen in the bay, while white-beaked dolphins, blue whales, fin whales and other cetaceans may also be encountered. When wildlife is spotted, we slow down and spend time observing the animals respectfully in their natural environment. Your guide will share information about the whales, their behaviour and the marine ecosystem of Skjálfandi Bay. During the tour, you can move between the outdoor viewing areas and VINUR’s heated indoor seating area, making the journey comfortable in Iceland’s changing weather. After approximately 2.5–3 hours on Skjálfandi Bay, return to Húsavík harbour.
