What you can expect

  • Day 1:

    • We will pick you up at your hotel or point of departure in Bukhara.
    • You will embark on a 3-hour journey to the Nurata Mountains. You will stop to visit the Nurata Fortress, an ancient stronghold rebuilt by Alexander the Great in the 4th century B.C. There, you will also see the sacred Chashma Spring. According to legend, it was created by the prophet Job. Still considered a place of healing by the people living nearby, it has also long been a popular pilgrimage site for Muslims (45-minute visit).
    • Pottery-making workshop.
    • You will travel to the Kyzylkum Desert, where, after a nearly 1-hour drive, you will visit Lake Aydar, a huge artificial reservoir surrounded by desert landscapes that do not detract from the serenity of the lake.
    • Lunch near the lake (beach).
    • You'll have the opportunity to stroll along its shores or, if you wish, to take a dip in its calm waters.
    • Arrival at the yurt camp.
    • Later in the afternoon, you'll go on a camel ride through the Kyzylkum Desert, the perfect opportunity to admire a sunset like you've never seen before.
    • Finally, you will immerse yourself in Uzbek nomadic culture by spending the night in a traditional yurt – a unique experience not to be missed!
    • At the yurt camp, you will enjoy the hospitality of the nomads while dining under the stars on typical dishes such as “plov,” the national dish.
    • You'll listen to Karakalpak music played around a campfire – a rich experience that will immerse you in the ancient way of life of the nomadic peoples of Central Asia.

    Day 2:

    • After breakfast, transfer to the village of Ashraf or Ukhum or Sentob in the Nurata Mountains.
    • Check-in at the accommodation.
    • Lunch at a homestay (traditional cuisine).
    • Then, enjoy a hiking tour where you can take in the nature and scenery of the mountains.
    • Dinner at a local's house, to combine the flavour of history with local cuisine, while enjoying traditional dishes. This authentic experience will allow you to discover local customs and traditions surrounded by stunning landscapes and fresh air.

    Day 3:

    • After breakfast at the homestay, your driver will take you to the ancient city of Samarkand.
