Amid all the images that pass us by every day, this is a moment in which we ourselves leave traces once again.
This is possible even in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the capital.
Surrounded by the six-lane Bismarckstraße and Otto-Suhr-Allee, there lies a quiet haven: the Ackerhaus from 1723, one of the oldest townhouses in Charlottenburg. Anyone who crosses its threshold leaves the bustle of the city and the pressures of everyday life behind. Here, time seems to flow more slowly – and the senses begin to perceive things more intensely.
The Ackerhaus is a place where art, music and history intertwine to create a rich, sensory experience. In this special course, you can experience this vibrant symbiosis first-hand.
For, amidst centuries-old walls, among historical artefacts, sculptures and musical instruments, you can still feel the breath of bygone centuries. Where once oxcarts rattled, hay bales rolled through the hallway and hams were smoked in the “black kitchen”, where there was no traffic and no noise from cars beyond the threshold, but instead cabbage, potatoes and grain grew.
During the course, I will take you on a short guided tour through the history of this house, telling you about its everyday life, its transformations and the experiences it has preserved despite the passage of centuries. In between, you can paint or draw. Completely freely, without any guidelines, without any pressure to perform. If you like, however, I can also give you tasks and suggestions. What counts is not technique, but perception. You can leave your own mark on the paper or canvas – in resonance with this house, with its stories, its sounds, its light.
From time to time, when it feels right, I will share little anecdotes and details from the history of Berlin and this building, so that history and the present, thinking and doing, become intertwined. Often, at this moment, images emerge that are less like depictions and more like echoes: of atmospheres, feelings, memories that rise up within us through the walls.
As a highlight, you will experience a short live violin concert featuring music from the time when the house was built. The ancient melodies and motifs will then fill the rooms and bring the journey through time to a close with a soundscape that lingers for a long time.
This is no longer a “class,” but a premium experience.
This is for people who are looking for something special and intimate: far removed from mass tourism, something truly authentic, small-scale and genuine — not consumption, but a deep immersion.
A moment of pause in which everything becomes still – except for your own creativity.
A rare, deep sip from the spring of inspiration, the spring of Hippocrene.
