Our sightseeing tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel or place of stay in Bogotá in a safe and comfortable vehicle. From there, we'll head to the town of Zipaquirá, located about 1 hour from the capital.
Arrival in Zipaquirá – Historic and Cultural Heritage
Upon arrival, we'll explore this charming municipality, renowned for its colonial architecture and rich historical heritage. Zipaquirá was originally inhabited by the indigenous Muiscas, who exploited salt as a source of wealth and trade.
Exploration of the Salt Cathedral
Once in the Salt Cathedral, you will descend 180 metres underground through illuminated tunnels with a mystical atmosphere. During the tour, you'll stop at the 14 stations of the Way of the Cross, each with sculptures carved in salt depicting the passion and death of Christ.
You'll visit the Dome, the Narthex, the Great Cross carved from rock salt, and the impressive three main altars.
Marvel at the optical effect of the light dome and the majesty of this underground temple, recognised as the second most impressive place of worship in the world.
You can explore the Mineral Gallery, the Water Mirror, and other spaces full of history and symbolism.
Optional Tour of Zipaquirá's Historic Centre
After the Cathedral visit, you can enjoy a short walk through the historic centre of Zipaquirá. Its cobbled streets, colonial balconies, and beautiful main square will transport you to another era.
Drop-off in Bogotá
After a day full of history, culture, and architectural beauty, we will head back to Bogotá, where you will be transferred back to your hotel or point of origin.
