Activity itinerary

Place de la Liberte (Pass by)

Place de la Liberté was built in 1852 by two brothers, André-Joseph and Gaudensi Allar. It quickly became a popular place for walking among locals: even today, it is undoubtedly the busiest square in the city.

Opera de Toulon (Pass by)

This magnificent building is none other than the opera of Toulon. Built in 1862, it could accommodate nearly 1800 spectators at that time, only 100 fewer than the Opéra Garnier in Paris.

Place Puget (Pass by)

Typical of Provencal squares, welcoming and warm, Place Puget is a real place to live in Toulon. Offering many terraces of bars and restaurants, it is decorated with a largeTypical Provencal squares, welcoming and warm, the Place Puget is a real place of life of Toulon. Paroisse Cathédrale Toulon (Pass by)

Here is the oldest building in the city: Sainte-Marie-de-la-Seds Cathedral. The first building was built in the 5th century, but the cathedral you see there was started in the 11th century, then expanded and modified over the centuries to accommodate the growing number of faithful in the city.

Cours Lafayette (Pass by)

The Cours Lafayette, located a stone’s throw from the sea, is one of the busiest places in the city! In addition to offering shops of all kinds on either side of the street, it adorns itself with the Point of Sale stalls, which gathers all the good flavours of Provence!

89 Cr Lafayette (Pass by)

At 89 Cours Lafayette, on your left, I invite you to approach the house and look up to the second floor... Real curiosity of the city, this ball raises many questions!

Porte d'Italie (Pass by)

Here you are in front of the monumental Gate of Italy. Built from the 18th century on plans by the famous architect Vauban, it is one of the last vestiges of the fortifications that surrounded the city, Toulon being, at that time, very close to the border of the kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia: it was therefore imperative to be able to defend the city!

Stade Mayol (Pass by)

Reviews to big rugby fans! Here you are in front of the mythical Mayol Stadium, a true symbol of the city. It was built in 1919, thanks to Felix Mayol, a Toulon singer passionate about the sport who offered the field to Rugby Club Toulonnais, a historic club that is part of the elite of French rugby.

Eglise Saint Francois de Paule (Pass by)

This beautiful church on Place Saint-Louis was built in the 18th century, replacing a chapel that had been there for a century.

Petite Rade de Toulon (Pass by)

Before you set out to discover the harbour, you should know that the port of Toulon is the first military port in France, and one of the main French naval bases.

Statue du Genie de la Navigation (Pass by)

Here is a symbolic statue for the city of Toulon, the statue of the Engineering of Navigation. This sculpture faces the port, with its finger pointing towards the sea: it represents the spirit of conquest, the exploration of great sailors.

Place Raimu (Pass by)

This beautiful life-size statue, called the sculpture of the “part of cards”, depicts Caesar and Panisse, two famous characters who are part of Marcel Pagnol’s trilogy, also called the Marseille Trilogy, which represents all three plays imagined by this filmmaker and playwright of the 20th century.

Rue Pierre Semard (Pass by)

This street is a true paradise for the most art-loving of you! Galleries, workshops, shops... this street is a real place of artistic expression!

Eglise Saint-Louis (Pass by)

Featuring neo-classical architecture of Greco-Roman inspiration, Saint-Louis Church has not always been used for worship throughout its history.

Bateau sculpture (Pass by)

Here you are on Place Vatel, and despite the many palm trees that adorn this small square in the historic centre, the large boat sculpture that decorates one of the walls of the square will surely not have escaped you.

Hotel des Arts (Pass by)

Impossible to miss this building which, with its bright colours, does not fail to attract tourists who come to visit the city! Located on the edge of Boulevard Général Leclerc, this multicoloured building is none other than the Inn des Arts, former headquarters of the sub-prefecture built at the beginning of the 20th century.

Musee d'Art (Pass by)

This imposing U-shaped building is the Musée d’Art de Toulon, a true refuge for Toulon’s works since its construction in 1888.

Jardin Alexandre 1er (Pass by)

Formerly known as the “Jardin du Roy”, this small park of one hectare attracts many Touloners every day who come to relax. In the 18th century, it was run by the French Navy, which at the end of the same century created a botanical garden there thanks to the plants brought back by the crews after their sea trips.

Place de l'Equerre (Pass by)

In the heart of the shopping district of Toulon, the Place de l’Equerre reveals the beautiful architecture typical of this southern city!
