What you can expect

  • Our local guide will provide an overview of Turin and its role in the development of the Italian identity and how food and wine have been thriving in this territory due to 800 years of rule by the Savoyard state. As if you were a bohemian, you will start the experience in a historic café.

First, you will try Bicerin, a traditional chocolate drink that was and still is consumed in Turin's historic cafés.

You will then move on to a cosy place and you will have a lesson about chocolate, with insights offered by the guide, and sample a selection of bean to bar fine chocolates and then traditional chocolates like Gianduiotto and Cremino. Gianduiotto name comes from Gianduja: made by blending finely ground hazelnuts with chocolate to create a smooth and indulgent treat. Gianduja has a fascinating history, originating in Turin and dating back to the 19th century when cocoa was scarce and expensive. The chocolate tastings will be 100% organic and “bean to bar” products.

Then, you will move on to a wine tasting. Turin and Piedmont are famous for their wines, which come from vineyards on the slopes of the Alps. Your guide will lead you through a tasting of two iconic wines, one white and one red, paired with an organic cured meat and cheese platter, and provide a relaxed course on drinking like a professional sommelier and understanding the scents behind each wine.

Come hungry, thirsty, and excited to learn new things. Get ready to explore the flavours of Turin and to sightsee its incredible squares and palaces, reminiscent of the past.
