What you can expect

  • Embark on a journey through time as you explore the historic landmarks of Swords. Begin at Swords Castle, a medieval fortress with a rich history. Learn about the Anglo-Normans who were initially invited to Ireland but outstayed their welcome for 800 years.

Next, visit St. Colmcille's Well, a sacred site with deep spiritual significance. Hear stories of the monks who once inhabited the area and their contributions to Irish culture.

Continue to St. Columba's Church, Belfry, and Round Tower, where you'll delve into the history of the Vikings and their impact on Ireland. Hear tales of raiding, slave-trading Norse heart-throbs, and the legendary High King of Ireland, Brian Ború, who was waked in Swords after his army's triumph in the Battle of Clontarf in 1014 AD.

Throughout the tour, enjoy engaging stories, laughter, and even a sing-along to a ballad about Brian Ború. Receive a souvenir pack to remember your journey.
