There is no tour like this anywhere near Sofia. You walk into an ancient Bulgarian forest with Dobrin — mycologist, forager, and natural storyteller — and spend the day discovering what the forest is hiding. Wild mushrooms, medicinal herbs, edible plants, orchids, oak species, fungi you have never seen before. Then you sit down in the forest and eat it all.

Dobrin cooks the foraged ingredients into a gourmet meal on the spot — polenta with wild mushrooms and homemade goat cheese, bread with his own herb seasoning, wild garlic pesto. Every meal is different because every forest walk is different. Autumn brings the peak mushroom season — porcini, chanterelles, boletes. Spring brings wildflowers, fresh herbs, and the forest coming alive. Summer offers both.

This is not a standard guided tour. There is no script, no fixed route, no bus full of strangers. It is a day spent with someone who has spent his life learning what Bulgaria's forests contain — and who genuinely loves sharing it. Reviewers call it one of the best experiences of their entire trip to Bulgaria. They are right.
