What you can expect

  • Set off on a whale and dolphin-watching tour from Skjervøy. Board a RIB boat and head out to the fjords, rich in biodiversity throughout the year.

In spring and summer, cetaceans such as dolphins and whales are found in the area to feed. Capelin, a small Arctic pelagic fish, is on the main menu. As the capelin is the main dish not only for cetaceans but also for other fish and seabirds, the ecosystem in the area is exceptionally rich and supports a fascinating diversity of wildlife.

Look for whales, dolphins that move frequently in the big fjord system.
The white-beaked dolphins and harbour porpoises can be seen in the area all year round.

Spot other marine mammals, seals and otters, which are clever with their camouflage and a little difficult to spot.

In the end of January, after the winter whales end their feeding party in the fjords around Skjervøy, other trend and pattern of whales and cetaceans are to witness.
