This experience was designed by Arctic Safari Guides founder Timo, who grew up in Posio—the municipality where Riisitunturi National Park is located. His connection to the region brings local knowledge and stories into the experience, from life in Finnish Lapland and local traditions to Arctic nature and the history of the area.

Your journey begins in Rovaniemi and continues through the changing landscapes of Lapland towards Posio and Riisitunturi National Park. On arrival, head into the national park and hike through peaceful Arctic forests towards the fell, with plenty of opportunities to stop, enjoy the scenery and take photographs.

Riisitunturi is especially famous for its extraordinary snow-covered trees. During favourable winter conditions, snow and frost can build up on the trees and create the spectacular “tykky” formations seen in many famous photographs of the national park. As this is a completely natural phenomenon, the amount of snow on the trees varies depending on snowfall, wind, temperature and other weather conditions and cannot be guaranteed.

A great choice for travellers who want to experience the essential highlights of Riisitunturi in one day. Meet us at Scandic Pohjanhovi in central Rovaniemi and travel to the national park for a guided hike, Arctic scenery, photo stops, a warm drink and a light snack.

⭐Riisitunturi Premium – 8 hours | Small Group
Enjoy Riisitunturi at a more relaxed pace in a small group of maximum 8 guests. This option includes hotel pickup and drop-off in Rovaniemi and more time to enjoy the national park. During the adventure, enjoy a traditional Finnish BBQ with sausages and taste Finnish Leipäjuusto—squeaky cheese—served with homemade cloudberry jam.
