The tour begins at Riga Central Market, one of Europe’s largest and most remarkable markets. Built in the 1920s using giant steel structures originally designed for German Zeppelin hangars, its soaring pavilions combine innovative engineering with local food traditions. Today, it is the largest market in the Baltic States and a truly authentic hub of Latvian daily life.
Over the next hour, your local guide will lead you through the market’s different pavilions, stopping to taste and learn along the way. Enjoy a series of small tastings of salted and smoked fish, artisanal hemp pesto, aged dairy products, fresh vegetables, dark rye bread, seasonal specialities, and much more. Throughout the experience, you will sample a wide variety of local products, carefully selected to provide an authentic insight into Latvian cuisine and everyday food culture. Your guide will explain the origins of each product and its role in Latvian traditions and daily life.
The second part of the tour takes you into Riga’s charming Old Town. As you stroll through its cobbled streets, your guide will introduce you to some of the city’s most important landmarks and fascinating stories. After a short walk, you will arrive at our final stop for a traditional Latvian lunch in the very heart of Riga Old Town.
To conclude the experience, you will be introduced to Riga Black Balsam, Latvia’s most iconic herbal liqueur, and learn how to say “Cheers!” like a local.

To ensure a personal and enjoyable experience, group sizes are limited to a maximum of 15 participants. For groups of 10 or more, your guide will use a microphone, and each participant will receive an audio receiver, ensuring that everyone can hear clearly without having to crowd around the guide.
