Visit the Documentation Obersalzberg, one of the most important historical sites connected to the Nazi era. Between 1933 and 1945, Obersalzberg became one of the main centers of Nazi power outside Berlin, and Adolf Hitler spent long periods here at his Berghof residence. Explore the permanent exhibition with historical photographs, documents, multimedia displays, and original objects explaining the history of Obersalzberg, Nazi propaganda, World War II, persecution, and the Nazi leadership. You will also enter part of the original underground bunker complex built beneath Obersalzberg during World War II. Walk through tunnels and rooms that once formed part of the protected Nazi compound and learn how the area was used during the war. This visit combines authentic historical locations with informative exhibitions, making it an important stop for anyone interested in European and World War II history.

Continue to the Eagle’s Nest bus station. As private vehicles are not permitted on the mountain road, board the designated shared bus for the spectacular journey to the upper station. Walk through the 124-metre tunnel before taking the historic brass-lined lift directly into the Eagle’s Nest. Spend approximately two to three hours exploring independently at 1,834 m. Visit the historic building, see the terrace exhibition, enjoy a short mountain walk, and photograph the panoramic Alpine views. The Eagle’s Nest was built for Nazi political representation and official functions, not as Hitler’s private home. After descending by lift and bus, meet your driver and enjoy an included lunch in the Obersalzberg area or Berchtesgaden. Afterwards, explore Berchtesgaden’s historic centre at your own pace before returning to your Salzburg hotel.
