Know before you book

    • Children under 5 years old are not permitted.
    • We require a minimum of 4 people to operate this tour. This rarely happens due to its popularity, but if minimums are not met, you will be advised and offered either a refund or to be rescheduled.
    • Maximum group size is 14 guests per vehicle.
    • Please note there are NO bathroom facilities or buildings on-site. Aurora viewing takes place inside the vehicle.
    • The Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) is a natural phenomenon and cannot be guaranteed. Refunds will not be provided if the Aurora Borealis is not visible during the tour.
    • We do not pick up from Airbnb or private residences.

What you can expect

  • Travel to the hilltop vantage point of Murphy Dome for wide-open views of the night sky and the chance to see the breathtaking colours and dancing lights of the Aurora Borealis. Relax in a comfortable, heated van and enjoy hot drinks while you wait for the Northern Lights to appear.

    Your guide and Northern Lights expert will pick you up from your Fairbanks hotel and take you to Murphy Dome. Located at a former Air Force base, Murphy Dome’s elevated location and limited light pollution make it an excellent place for Aurora viewing.

    Learn about the atmospheric conditions that create the Northern Lights while you wait in the warmth of the van. When the Aurora appears, step outside to watch the colourful lights dance across the sky, take photos, and enjoy the surrounding night sky before returning to Fairbanks in the early morning.

    Please note: Our preferred viewing area is located at the top of Murphy Dome Road and does not have a building or bathroom facilities. Guests will remain in the heated van while waiting for the Northern Lights and will step outside when conditions are favourable for viewing.
