Head to the iconic peak of Mount Fuji and the dramatic landscapes of Hakone, whether you're looking for a sacred forest shrine, volcanic wonders or just an unforgettable day trip from Tokyo. After being picked up, relax on our comfortable tour coach and enjoy the journey as you are whisked away from the bustling city and into some of Japan's most celebrated natural scenery.
Our first stop of the day is the shores of Lake Ashi, where you can stroll through the forest towards the historic Hakone Shrine or pause by the famous Peace Torii Gate, which stands right in the water. Next, board the Hakone Pirate Ship for a 25-minute cruise across the lake, taking in the reflections of the mountains in the water and the views of the surrounding forest.
Next, continue your adventure high above the hills by taking the Owakudani Ropeway. As you glide over steaming volcanic valleys, your guide will regale you with tales of the region's geological history, before taking you to the Owakudani Volcanic Area. Here, you will have time to explore the active sulphur vents up close, and you can even try the local black eggs (kuro tamago), which are cooked in the natural hot springs and said to prolong your life!
After taking in Hakone's volcanic wonders, we head towards the foot of Mount Fuji for a photo stop at a famous roadside convenience store where the towering peak sits directly behind the store roof. We then walk along Hikawa Clock Shop Street, often called the 'stairway to Mt. Fuji', where you can take your own retro-style photos looking straight down the road towards the mountain.
Our final stop is Arakurayama Sengen Park, where you can enjoy breathtaking views for an hour. Climb up to the main observation deck to experience one of Japan's most famous panoramas: a stunning single-frame view combining the five-storey Chureito Pagoda, the town below and Mt. Fuji towering in the background.
As we travel back towards the metropolis from the Fuji region, sit back and unwind on the return journey, arriving in central Tokyo at around 6:00 pm.
