In this experience, you’ll have the chance to leisurely savour Kyoto’s unique “evening-only” culture in a small group setting.
After check-in, we’ll provide an easy-to-understand explanation of the history of Japanese mochi-pounding and the tea ceremony.
Next, you’ll try your hand at authentic mochi-pounding using a traditional mortar and pestle.
The mochi you pound will be prepared on the spot, allowing you to enjoy its warm, freshly made flavour.
You will also participate in a matcha tea ceremony using authentic tea ceremony utensils.
We will carefully explain the traditional tools—such as the chasen (tea whisk), chashaku (tea scoop), and kettle—which you rarely have the chance to handle in everyday life.
At the end of the experience, we’ll take a group photo, and you’ll receive a special souvenir from the owner.
