Begin your adventure with a convenient pickup from Kanazawa, Takayama, or a nearby location. Relax in a modern, air-conditioned vehicle while enjoying the scenic countryside views of the Japanese Alps. Unlike crowded group tours with fixed schedules, this private experience gives you the freedom to spend more time at the places that interest you most.

The highlight of the tour is the UNESCO World Heritage village of Shirakawa-go. Famous for its traditional Gassho-zukuri farmhouses, the village offers a glimpse into Japan’s rural past. Walk through charming streets lined with historic homes, cross picturesque bridges, and admire breathtaking mountain scenery throughout the year. Visit the Ogi-machi Castle Old Site Observatory for panoramic views of the entire village, one of the most photographed landscapes in Japan.

Continue your journey to Takayama, often called “Little Kyoto” due to its beautifully preserved old town. Stroll through historic streets where traditional wooden merchant houses, local craft shops, and sake breweries create an atmosphere that feels unchanged for centuries. Learn about the region’s rich heritage, craftsmanship, and local traditions while exploring the city’s most iconic districts.

Customise the itinerary according to your interests. Depending on available time, you may choose to visit attractions such as Takayama Jinya, Hida no Sato Folk Village, local morning markets, traditional sake breweries, scenic viewpoints, cultural museums, or hidden gems recommended by your driver. This flexibility makes the tour perfect for families, couples, photographers, solo travellers, and groups seeking a more personalised experience.

Throughout the day, your knowledgeable English-speaking driver will share insights about local history, culture, architecture, and daily life, helping you gain a deeper appreciation of the region. Whether you’re interested in photography, traditional Japanese culture, nature, or simply enjoying a relaxing countryside escape, this tour can be tailored to suit your travel style.

Seasonal beauty makes this experience special year-round. Witness cherry blossoms in spring, vibrant greenery in summer, colourful autumn foliage, or the magical snow-covered landscapes that have made Shirakawa-go famous worldwide during winter.
