Overview

Embark on this experiential tour visiting places related to food, sake, and tableware, and trace the natural and cultural roots that gave birth to Kagoshima's food culture. With well-drained soil made of volcanic ash from Sakurajima and the Kirishima Mountains, rich seas including Kinko Bay, and a history as an important maritime trade hub through which various cultures from around the world have been introduced, Kagoshima is a land where a unique and rich food culture has been nurtured. First, enjoy interacting with local farmers in a field at the foot of Sakurajima, where regional circular farming method utilising the natural environment is used. Afterwards, visit a distillery that makes shochu, a speciality of Kagoshima, and experience blending an original shochu. Farmland Sakurajima is a rare farm located at the foot of an active volcano. On this tour, sit on the field with a magnificent view of Sakurajima towering right before your eyes and enjoy sweets made with field-grown crops while listening to stories from farmers.
