Know before you book

  • We follow local whale watching regulations which prohibits approaching whales within 100 yards.
  • Cruise ship passengers must provide the following information immediately after booking - ship name and contact information.
  • Pickup is available from most centrally located Juneau hotels/apartments/predetermined location. Please arrange pickup from your hotel/apartment or a nearby location when you call to confirm your reservation.
  • Collapsible wheelchairs can be accommodated provided the passenger is accompanied by someone who can assist them to board and disembark. You must notify immediately after booking to ensure appropriate arrangements is made prior to your arrival on our end.
  • Please be at your departure location 10 minutes prior to the pickup time.

What you can expect

Step back in time and embark on a historic voyage to the Sentinel Island Lighthouse

Departing from Auke Bay, relax in a heated cabin with a hot cup of coffee and enjoy outside viewing areas while watching for wildlife. Search for Humpback whales, Stellar sea lions, Dall’s porpoise, bald eagles, and various marine birds. Cruising through Alaska’s Inside Passage, learn about whales and the history of our lighthouses.

En route to the lighthouse, be sure to keep an eye out for signs of our abundant Humpback whale population. Once spotted, your captain will manoeuvre the vessel into position for the best photo opportunity possible.

Upon arrival at Sentinel Island, you will begin the next leg of your adventure with a short walk on a scenic boardwalk loop with photo ops along the way. Amazing views include Lynn Canal, (one of the longest and deepest fjords in the world) and the surrounding islands and waterways.
