Overview
Ibadan, in south-western Nigeria, has a rich cultural heritage and a fascinating history.
Bower’s Tower was built in memory of Captain Lister Bower, the first British national to live in and explore Ibadan. Will you like to catch a glimpse of the popular Ibadan red roofs? Then you’ll have to take the spiral stairs to the top of this 18-meter (60 feet) high building.
Do you want to explore the history and culture of Nigeria? The National Museum, Ibadan, will give you all you seek. The museum is classified into four distinct sections: Unity Gallery, Yoruba Gallery, Masquerade Gallery, and Pottery Gallery.
Mapo Hall is the colonial-style Ibadan city hall. It was built in 1929 and has a mini-museum where you’ll see relics of the colonial era and pictures of the city’s previous rulers.
At the Topfat art gallery, you’ll find beautiful contemporary artworks of Nigerian and West African artists. It’s a good place to purchase souvenirs and gift items.
