What you can expect
At your requested time, our professional tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Gothenburg and drive you to the city centre, where your boat tour begins. This experience offers a unique way to explore Gothenburg while feeling the fresh breeze on your face as you cruise through its scenic waterways.
Lejontrappan – The Starting Point
Your journey begins at Lejontrappan (“The Lion Stairs”), one of Gothenburg's best-known landmarks. This historic staircase, located in the heart of the city, serves as a popular meeting point and the departure location for your boat ride.
Gustav Adolfs Square & Historic Landmarks
As you sail along the Göta River, you’ll pass Gustav Adolfs Square, where you’ll see the statue of King Gustav II Adolf, the founder of Gothenburg, which has stood in the square since the late 17th century. You will also admire the Stock Exchange Market Building and City Hall, both dating back to the 17th century and reflecting Neoclassical architecture.
The German Church (Christinae Church)
Your boat ride continues past The German Church, also known as Christinae Church, named after Queen Christina of Sweden. Inaugurated in 1748, this historic church once served the German and Dutch communities in Gothenburg and remains a significant landmark in the city centre.
Lilla Bommen – The Harbour & Iconic Sights
Enjoy sailing into the North Sea as you reach Lilla Bommen, a key part of Gothenburg’s harbour. This area is home to the Göteborg Opera House, the Viking Barque Ship, and the distinctive Läppstiftet (“The Lipstick”), a red-and-white skyscraper offering panoramic city views. Water and snacks will be provided during the tour.
Feskekörka – The Fish Church
Cruising further along the Göta River, you will pass Feskekörka (“Fish Church”), a unique indoor fish market designed in Neo-Gothic style. Opened in 1874, this landmark, designed by architect Victor von Gegerfelt, is an essential stop for seafood lovers and architectural enthusiasts alike.
Final Landmarks & Return
As the tour continues, you will pass Stora Teatern, a historic theatre known for its striking architecture, and Trädgårdsföreningen, a beautiful 19th-century garden park. At the end of the boat tour, we will drive you back to your hotel, concluding your memorable journey through Gothenburg’s waterways.
