What you can expect

  • Discover the culinary soul of Liguria with an authentic masterclass in our family-run shop, BioTigullio5Terre, in the heart of Genoa's historic old town, at Via di Ravecca 51r, just a stone's throw from Columbus' House.

    You will learn how to make authentic Genoese pesto with a Carrara marble mortar and wooden pestle, following local tradition. Each participant will make their own pesto using fresh, wholesome ingredients: PDO basil, Parmesan cheese, Pecorino cheese, pine nuts, garlic and extra-virgin olive oil.

    At the end of the class, we will enjoy a plate of trofie pasta with pesto together, made using your recipe, and we will toast with a glass of one or two local wines: Vermentino, Pigato or Ciliegiolo del Tigullio. To conclude, you will receive a complimentary 90-gram jar of long-life Genoese pesto to take home.

    Our experience is led by a Ligurian family with deep roots in the tradition of pesto.

    Our instructors also include Gaia, one of the youngest finalists in the Genoa World Championship of Pesto Made with a Mortar and Pestle (2026), an international accolade that honours the best exponents of the Genoese tradition.

    During the masterclass, we will share not only a recipe, but a true culture made up of gestures, aromas and authentic stories of the region.
