From Vientiane, you will go to Ban Tanmixay village, a small village behind the Dong Dok University campus by lorry or tuk-tuk together with the bikes. Located only 25 minutes away, this village is the starting point of your cycling tour on a paved new road, passing dreamlike green rice fields to the left and the mountains of the PhouKhaoKhouay National Protected Area on your right.
Upon arrival at the River Time Resort at the Nam Ngum River, you will have relaxing time enjoying cold drinks. From the resort’s kitchen, you will enjoy your lunch boxes and board a ferry down the river for about 30 minutes to Ban Thadindeng, a Hmong village. You will discover the village before keep on cycling on a dirt road in the midst of the rice fields. After passing Ban Thakai, you will continue your journey to Ban Tontam, where you will finally have your deserved picnic lunch at the amazing “Sala” (meeting hall) of the village, which is nicely nestled at a pond filled with so many purple lotus flowers, and with the nearby PhouKhaoKhoauy mountain range as a nice photo worthy backdrop.
After lunch, you will cycle to Ban Thakokhai to board a ferry to go across the Nam Ngum River. The Ban Pako Resort, where you will take another boat for going up-stream to Ban Somesamai is the final destination of your cycling tour. Here your lorry or tuk-tuk, respectively, is waiting to take you back to Vientiane. If time allows, you may stop at Wat Veunphan temple opposite to Ban Somesamai
