Two ways to enjoy this private day trip: with your own licensed guide in English, French, German, Italian or Spanish (guided option), or with a private driver only who takes you to the same places and waits while you explore at your own pace (Private Driver Only option). The day described below follows the guided option.

Your own licensed guide leads your group on this private day trip from Le Havre to two great chapters of French history and art: medieval Rouen, where Joan of Arc died, and Giverny, where Claude Monet created his famous gardens. Your entrance ticket to Monet's house and gardens is included, and your driver stays with you all day in a private vehicle.

Your guide speaks English, French, German, Italian or Spanish, and the tour is private for 1 to 15 travellers: a van for up to 6 travellers, or a 16 seat coach for larger families, friends travelling together and cruise groups, so everyone stays together with the same guide all day.

Your day starts with pickup at the Le Havre cruise terminal, your hotel or the train station. The drive to Rouen takes about 1h10.

In Rouen your guide walks with you through the old town of half timbered houses: Notre Dame Cathedral, whose facade Monet painted more than 30 times, the Gros Horloge astronomical clock and the Place du Vieux Marché, where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431.

About an hour along the Seine Valley brings you to Giverny. After lunch in the village (not included, your guide recommends the best spots), you visit the gardens. In Giverny your entrance ticket to Claude Monet's house and gardens is included. Your guide takes you through the pink house with green shutters where Monet lived for 43 years, his yellow dining room and his collection of Japanese prints, then into the Clos Normand flower garden and across the road to the water garden, with the Japanese bridge, the weeping willows and the water lilies he painted more than 250 times.

Monet's house and gardens are open from April 1 to November 1, the tour runs during this season. This itinerary is a suggestion and can be customised, just let us know when you book. For cruise passengers we plan the day around your ship's schedule and guarantee your return before all aboard time.
