What you can expect
Spend a guided visit at the Château de Chantilly, one of France's great princely estates, located around 40 km north of Paris in the Hauts-de-France region.
Your tour starts at the château, where your pre-booked admission ticket gives access to the apartments of the Princes of Condé and to the Musée Condé. The museum holds one of the largest collections of old master paintings in France after the Louvre, with works by artists such as Raphael, Fra Angelico, Poussin, Watteau and Ingres, shown in galleries that have remained largely unchanged since the 19th century.
Your guide then leads you through the estate's 115-hectare park. You walk the formal French garden laid out by André Le Nôtre in the 17th century, the landscape designer who also shaped Versailles, and take in the canals, parterres and open vistas of the grounds.
The visit continues to the Grandes Écuries, the monumental 18th-century Great Stables that count among the most impressive equestrian buildings in Europe. Today they house the Living Museum of the Horse, where your guide explains the long bond between the estate and its horses.
Throughout, your guide shares the history of the estate, its princely owners and the art and architecture that make Chantilly a landmark of French heritage.
Two options are available.
The Standard Group tour lasts about 1 hour 30 minutes for up to 15 participants.
The private tour lasts about 2 hours and is reserved for your party alone, with a more flexible pace.
