Cambodia: 4 days immersed in rural life and Khmer traditions
Discover a different side of Cambodia over 4 days, away from the usual tourist routes. Depart from Siem Reap to explore the countryside, meet a Khmer family, share local meals and take part in traditional activities.
Day 1 – My hometown and my family
Depart Siem Reap by private car for my hometown. Discover the rice paddies, small villages, and rural life in Cambodia. Meet my family, see their home, and enjoy a local lunch together. In the afternoon, explore the village and the rice fields by bike and, depending on the season, take part in a local activity. In the evening, prepare dinner with the family and spend the night at a homestay.
Day 2 – Market, pagoda and traditions
Visit the local market in Phnom Srok and discover the products used by the locals on a daily basis. Then take part in preparing or offering a meal to the monks in a pagoda. In the afternoon, discover various local crafts: silk weaving, bamboo work, traditional cakes, rice wine or rice processing. Depending on the season, you can also take part in a rural activity such as fishing.
Day 3 – Nature and local traditions
Discover the landscapes and wetlands of Ang Trapeang Thmor. Depending on the season, observe local produce such as lotus, watermelons or the ingredients for Nom Banh Chok. Visit a pagoda and, if possible, receive a traditional blessing from a monk. Then enjoy some time by the lake before returning to the village for a final dinner with the family.
Day 4 – Drop-off in Siem Reap
After breakfast, say goodbye to your host family and return to Siem Reap by private car. You will then have some free time to relax at the hotel, enjoy the pool, or explore the city at your own pace.
An authentic experience to discover Cambodia through rural life, encounters, gastronomy, traditions and nature, getting up close to the locals.
