What you can expect

The name Viscri is, in fact, the Romanian adaptation of the German word Weißkirch, which means White Church. In some older documents, the locality is referred to as: White Church.

Discover the Saxon fortress and its specific architecture – the fortified church in Viscri
In Viscri, there is one of the best preserved Saxon fortresses, positioned in a wonderful area, where nature intertwines with the spirit of the place.
The walls of the fortress house the Romanesque church with Gothic influences, two towers, two bastions and a gate tower. The monument was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Inside the fortress, there is also a museum where you will find elements specific to the activities and customs of the place, from tools and pieces of furniture to traditional costumes, looms, wooden chests and other hand-painted objects.

You can enjoy a night of accommodation with a royal feel – the house of King Charles in Viscri
In 1996, Prince Charles bought a house here and mentioned the beauty of the place in countless interviews, during his visits to Romania. From that moment, Viscri began to arouse the interest of Europeans and become a destination to visit on holiday.
The house is located right at the entrance to the village and was built in 1875, and the renovation process strictly followed the preservation of traditional elements. In the courtyard of the king's house there are 7 rooms, a chic café, as well as a small vegetable garden and a space for a popular craft in the area - engraving.
