With Sky Rebels, Barranco de las Vacas is much more than the famous photo.

We pick you up early in Maspalomas and head into southeast Gran Canaria in a small group of no more than 6 travellers, before the busiest time of day.

Our first stop is Barranco de las Vacas, a spectacular small canyon shaped over time by the force of water. Walk between its curved walls and enjoy the atmosphere and quiet of the canyon before it gets busy, with time to explore and, of course, take that iconic photo.

But this is where our journey really begins.

Away from the usual tourist route, we continue to a little-known archaeological site once used by the ancient Canarians. We visit this special place with care and respect, exploring what remains and using the landscape around us to understand how they lived and adapted to the island.

From there, we continue to Temisas, a small village in rural Gran Canaria. Walk through its quiet streets and discover a different side of the island, where everyday local life feels far removed from the busy tourist resorts. Along the way, there are often opportunities to meet local residents and even see a traditional Canarian house from the inside.

Throughout the experience, your 2 Sky Rebels guides, Inés & Juanjo, share the history, landscapes, local stories and personal insights that bring the places you visit to life.

Expect to walk around 4 km in total. This is not a hiking tour and the walking is generally easy, but reaching some of the places we visit involves rocky or uneven terrain. You should be comfortable walking this distance, and good walking shoes are essential.

This is not just a stop at Barranco de las Vacas. It’s a half-day journey through landscape, ancient Canarian history and local life — a different way to experience Gran Canaria with Sky Rebels.
