What you can expect

  • The Aljaferia Palace was built on the orders of Al-Muqtadir, king of the taifa of Saraqusta, in the 11th century, as a place for recreation and enjoyment. Still today the northernmost Muslim palace in Europe, this palace complex was also called the Palace of Joy because of its beauty and decoration. Renovated and expanded by the Christian kings of Aragon, it became the seat of the court of the Kingdom of Aragon and of the Catholic Monarchs, who enlarged it while preserving its slender silhouette from bygone times.
