What you can expect

Every year during the southern winter, majestic humpback whales leave Antarctica to join the warm, turquoise waters of the New Caledonia lagoon. From mid-July to mid-September, they come to the south of the lagoon to reproduce and give birth to their calves.

Set sail from Nouméa aboard one of our sailing catamarans to meet these true “giants of the sea” on an environmentally friendly ecotourism excursion.

This experience is totally unpredictable and magical: blows at the surface, spectacular leaps, fins hitting the water, or mothers accompanied by their young… each outing is unique and full of emotion.

Our crews, trained by the Southern Province and working in collaboration with scientists, apply the official code of conduct for marine mammal watching. Benefit from their knowledge and experience in a friendly and reassuring atmosphere.

Departing from 6:50 AM for a 7:00 AM sailing, cruise out into the open sea with a coffee on board and keep your eyes peeled to help the crew spot the whales.

Please note: This excursion is intended for people who enjoy sailing and know how to take their time. The main purpose of the day is to sail in search of and to observe whales. There is no stop on an island, and you will have lunch on board with the picnic you have brought.

This tour is not recommended for people who are prone to seasickness. Return to wharf scheduled between 4:30 PM and 5:30 PM.

Don't forget to bring a windbreaker, sunglasses, a hat, a camera, binoculars, and your picnic.
