This experience is designed as a relaxed introduction to cycling in the Andes foothills, combining mountain landscapes, local history, and a comfortable riding pace using e-bikes.
The day begins with pick-up from your accommodation in Mendoza. From there, we drive towards the starting point of the ride.
Once on the bikes, we begin riding into the pre-cordillera of the Andes along scenic mountain roads with wide views and little technical difficulty. The route is all paved and follows safe roads and shoulders, making it accessible for anyone with basic cycling experience. Electric bikes help make the climbs manageable and allow riders to focus more on the scenery and the experience itself.
The cycling section covers approximately 20 km as we gradually enter deeper into the mountains. Along the way, we pass through Cacheuta, a historic mountain village known for its thermal waters, railway history, and its connection to Mendoza’s early mountain tourism development.
As the ride continues, the landscape becomes more dramatic while approaching Potrerillos Dam and the surrounding lake area. This is where the route becomes more mountainous, with gentle climbs, fresh air, and some of the best panoramic views of the Andes near Mendoza.
The experience continues around the lake area towards Potrerillos village, where the tour can finish with a relaxed lunch, coffee, tea, or late meal surrounded by mountain scenery.
Depending on the group and preferences, there is flexibility to either return by vehicle from the final point or continue cycling for part of the return journey. The goal of the experience is not speed or performance, but rather enjoying the transition from the city into the Andes in a safe, active, and authentic way.
