We’ll also take a look at the grand Hôtel de Ville de Lyon and use this setting to introduce the basics of Lyon—its importance, history, and what makes the city unique today.

Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon

Just next to Place des Terreaux, we stop in front of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, one of the most important museums in France. We’ll learn about its fascinating history—from a former convent to a world-class museum—before taking a short stroll through its peaceful garden. This quiet moment offers a nice contrast to the lively square, before we continue our walk towards the Croix-Rousse hill.

We continue to the Croix-Rousse hill, the historic centre of Lyon’s silk industry.
