Pink Lake, Sweets Cane Mountains & Khinalig Village Tour
Your adventure begins with a comfortable pickup from your hotel or designated meeting point in Baku. Leaving the city behind, we travel north through changing landscapes towards the majestic Caucasus Mountains.
Our first stop is Pink Lake (Masazir Lake), one of Azerbaijan’s most unusual natural attractions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, the lake may display beautiful pink shades created by natural minerals and microorganisms. This unique location offers excellent photo opportunities and a chance to learn about its fascinating ecosystem.
Next, we visit the legendary Beshbarmag Mountain, a sacred landmark known for its spiritual significance and historical importance. Rising dramatically above the surrounding plains, it offers breathtaking panoramic views and interesting stories connected to ancient travellers and the Silk Road.
The journey continues to the famous Sweets Cane Mountains, renowned for their extraordinary red-and-white striped rock formations. These colourful hills are among the most photogenic natural wonders in Azerbaijan. Guests will have time to explore the area, take photos, and learn about the geological processes that created this remarkable landscape.
Heading further into the mountains, we pass through the beautiful Gechresh Forest, a lush green area surrounded by towering trees and fresh mountain air. This scenic location provides a refreshing break and showcases the natural beauty of northern Azerbaijan.
A lunch break is arranged at a local restaurant in the Gechresh area, where guests can enjoy traditional Azerbaijani cuisine in a peaceful forest setting.
After lunch, we visit the world-famous Red Village (Qırmızı Qəsəbə), one of the most unique Jewish settlements in the world and home to the Mountain Jewish community for centuries. Here, you will discover the rich history, traditions, and cultural heritage of this remarkable place.
The route then follows the spectacular Gudyalchay Canyon Road, offering stunning views of deep valleys, dramatic cliffs, and rugged mountain scenery. A stop at Eagle Peak provides unforgettable panoramic views of the surrounding Caucasus landscapes and, with a bit of luck, the chance to spot eagles soaring overhead.
The highlight of the day is Khinalig Village, located at approximately 2,350 metres above sea level. Recognised as one of the oldest continuously inhabited mountain villages in the Caucasus, Khinalig is famous for its unique language, ancient traditions, and distinctive stone architecture. Wander through its narrow streets, admire breathtaking alpine scenery, and experience a way of life preserved for centuries.
After an unforgettable day exploring Azerbaijan’s natural wonders, cultural treasures, and mountain landscapes, we begin our comfortable journey back to Baku, arriving in the evening with lasting memories of one of the country’s most spectacular regions.
