Activity itinerary

Ponta da Piedade

  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
Ponta da Piedade is one of the most famous natural landmarks in Portugal. It’s a dramatic headland made of towering golden cliffs carved by the sea into arches, caves, and needle-like rock formations. From the top, you look down onto turquoise water and sculpted rocks that look almost unreal. It is widely considered one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. From the top viewpoint (standard on a land tour): Walk along the new wooden boardwalks for panoramic cliff-edge views. See the iconic natural arches and pillars rising from the sea. Look down into small hidden caves and grotto entrances. Take photos of some of the Algarve’s most photographed scenery. Enjoy the lighthouse viewpoint at the end of the headland.

Praia da Luz

  • 1h
A large golden-sand beach protected by two dramatic cliffs: the volcanic black cliff Rocha Negra on one side and soft limestone cliffs on the other. Luz is known for calm water and a relaxed resort atmosphere. Walk the oceanside promenade with cafés, palm trees, and sea views. Pause at the viewpoint beside the church for a perfect photo of the bay. Optional short walk to the base of Rocha Negra, where you can see layers of black lava rock Soft sand, gentle waves, popular with families. Clear water, great for swimming in summer.

Burgau

  • 45m
Burgau is quieter, more traditional, and set in a natural cove. It still has authentic fishermen’s houses and narrow lanes leading straight down to the beach. Walk through the steep cobblestone lanes down to the beach — very photogenic. At the bottom, the beach opens into a soft sandy cove with cliffs on both sides. Traditional fishing boats may be on the sand depending on the day. Beautiful turquoise water on calm days, perfect for photos. Quiet, sheltered, picturesque. A favourite for people who want “old Algarve charm.”

Salema

  • 30m
Salema combines natural beauty with a strong fishing heritage. It’s one of the few places in Portugal where fishermen still launch boats from the beach. Arrive at a wide sandy beach with golden cliffs on both sides. If lucky, guests can see fishermen preparing nets or boats. At low tide, the cliffs reveal dinosaur footprints on the rocks at the western side (optional short 10–15 min walk). Little restaurants right on the sand give the village a peaceful seaside vibe. Laid-back, authentic, less commercial. Clean sand, calm waters, perfect photo stop.

Sagres

  • 2h
Sagres is not just one beach — it’s a coastline of dramatic cliffs and powerful Atlantic energy. Fortaleza de Sagres (Sagres Fortress) A giant headland stretching into the Atlantic. Views of the massive cliffs, long beaches, and endless ocean. Easy circular walk around the fortress perimeter. Guests can imagine the era of Portuguese navigators like Henry the Navigator. Cabo de São Vicente (Cape St. Vincent) The “End of the World” point — towering cliffs and the most southwestern point in mainland Europe. Standing on 70–80 metre cliffs with ocean waves crashing far below. Iconic red lighthouse and panoramic viewpoints. Often windy, giving a wild, dramatic feeling — A lovely place to take photos here. Not a swimming beach. It’s all about cliffs, wind, and dramatic Atlantic scenery.
